I always found it quite hard to find a nice little place in Montmartre which wasn't too touristic, too expensive and on the other hand stil stylish. While I was walking through the streets I found this place and what can I say the food is really delicious and they offer a great breakfast too. The interior is cool with a touch of school class nostalgia and it's located on the corner of the beautiful Villa Léandre I already told you about here.

Soupe à l'oignon

Wintertime is soup time and my favorite soup is the original french "Soupe à l'oignon", not only because it reminds me of my time in Paris - No, it's also easy to cook it at home.  

Ingredients

4 - 5 large onion, sliced thin

clarified butter

trice of sugar 

1 clove of garlic

1 tbsp. flour 

300 ml white wine

1,2 l beef stock

1 bay leaf

300 gr. Gruyere

1 Baguette, sliced

Use a large pot and melt the clarified butter than add the onions, the sugar and the garlic and cook until the onions are slightly brown and caramelized, takes about 20 minutes over medium heat. Now add the flour and the white wine, bring that to boil and then reduce the heat. Let it cook for a few minutes before you add the beef stock, fresh black pepper and the bay leaf. Now it's almost done, let the soupe cook for 30 minutes. During that time preheat the oven and put the slices of bread inside till they are golden-brown. Now ladle the soup into the bowls (makes about 4-5 bowls) top them with three slices of bread and the Gruyere cheese. Put the bowls inside the oven and let the cheese gratinate under the upper heat (3-5 minutes).

Voilà, enjoy your Soupe à l'oignon.

Parc Buttes Chaumont

Let´s start with my favorite park. I know there are a lot of nice parks in Paris, but for me the Parc Buttes Chaumont in the north of Paris is the most interesting one. I mean there is a waterfall, a huge rock, a pond and a very nice viewpoint. Seriously go there to have a picknick, it´s so relaxing and you can forget the crazy city around you at least for a day.

 Le Marais

If you say shopping, I say Le Marais. This district is one of my favorite "Quartiers" in Paris. You can walk trough the pretty streets and do some shopping. Not the worst thing to do in Paris, right? But be aware, most of the shops are closed on Monday.

Marché aux Puces de Saint-Ouen

This super fancy flea-market is situated next to the metrostation Porte de Clignancourt. Don´t be scared when you leave the train, it´s not really pretty there. Be brave and just follow the crowds, they will guide you.

Villa Léandre

I discovered this tiny little street after I moved to Montmartre. The street is a bit surreal and reminds me of Nothing Hill. I was super fascinated and I already saw myself living here.

 Canal Saint Martin

If you are in Paris and the weather is nice, you can take a walk along the Seine of course. But there are also other places to discover. What about the canal Saint Martin? Start from the metrostation Jaurès and just walk down the canal to find a nice cafe or just sit down next to the water like everyone else.
